Champs Information
July 26th
Hey Klams!
We have the Champs information from the host team- Villages of Westminster is hosting Champs this year and they assign everyone the positions. We are assigned based on our number of participants at the meet. Please sign up on the "Schedule" tab under VPSU Champs and "jobs." If your child is swimming, please help- you get to be inside! You will have to report to the volunteer check-in station before each session to check-in. I did not divide up the jobs into shifts- feel free to split the shift with a friend.
Here is the information!
- Format:
- 11 and older swimmers are in the morning with a 7:00-7:20 warm-up- lanes 6, 7, 8, 9.
- 10 and younger swimmers are in the afternoon with an 11:00-11:20 warm-up- lanes 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
- They will swim the morning session, have afternoon warm-ups (they will run from 11:00-12:20). Then hold the relays from approximately 12:30-1:00 and immediately start the afternoon session.
- Clerk of Course:
- All swimmers will report to the clerk of course outside the WISC building.
- The meet will run quickly, especially in the afternoon! Be sure your swimmers are listening for their events.
- Spectator Seating:
- There is no seating inside the pool area. Please watch your child swim by entering through the lobby in the front and exit through the back doors.
- Everyone will sit in the parking lot- please bring tents, fans (if you have a large fan (probably need extension cords) to share that would be wonderful!), chairs and blankets.
- It will be very warm on Saturday so please bring a lot to cool down with- there is no seating provided inside the WISC building.
- We have a designated team area- you can bring your tents over on Friday from 6-8. The team tent will not work in the parking lot.
- Parking:
- You can park in the large parking lots- they ask that you do not walk through the WISC.
- Programs:
- They are not printing any programs this year. You can see the digital copy online and they will provide a QR code.
- Volunteers:
- Please sign-up under "Schedule."
- Concessions:
- Williamsburg Community is providing concessions- they are not sure what they will have yet.
- Please make sure you bring plenty of drinks and snacks for your child. They are asking that everyone be sure to bring enough water!
- Awards:
- They will award medals 1-8 place and ribbons 9-16.
- The medals for places 1-8 will be distributed at the end of each session in an awards ceremony.
- Results are posted outside the building.
- Ribbons will be in your child's ribbon box next week.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
GO KLAMS!!!
Laura
